From the moment when we enter the world- when we are pure
love devoid of fear, with an a relative unguarded openness to our surroundings- onwards. We start to build layers, as a means of protection from perceived external threats, inside the womb;
such as skin, hair and fat. Once born, the fortunate among us
are provided with additional physical layers such as clothes and shelter. We also develop complex psychological structures, stemming from our perceptions of trust and mistrust, which serve to preserve the insecurities of the ego.
How many layers that we end up with depend on factors surrounding socialization and life circumstances: How we are raised. Who do we meet? Who invokes the strongest emotions in us?
I want to try to break down some of these barriers and try to move back to that first moment again.
Like when we meet some one that we like and trust and start to open up and psychologically strip down.
My belief is though, that we will never completely get back to that first moment of innocence.
That is why I have the person being portrayed write down their secrets on a piece of paper and put it in a sealed envelope. That envelope gets cemented in between two Plexiglas pieces that end up being the back of the piece.
It is the secret or secrets that we are all carrying with us, something that not even all the people closest to us will ever know.
How close are you willing to let people come to you. Surely you
will let certain people come closer then others, I am trying to be someone you can trust.
